Practice tasks make lessons more interactive, help test students’ knowledge, and provide valuable feedback. Please note that quizzes are created separately and then added to a lesson.
Types of tasks and their features
Kwiga offers diverse formats for creating practice tasks. You can use multiple-choice tests, matching tasks, fill-in-the-blanks, sorting, or interactive exercises like building words or sentences. Open-response formats are also available, allowing students to submit answers as text, audio, video, or files.
There are special formats for surveys: a Likert scale for evaluation, Yes/No questions, or rating tasks with stars. You can use the Net Promoter Score (NPS) to measure student satisfaction. Tasks can be customized with options for verification (automatic or manual), attempts allowed, time limits, and display of answers.
For more information, refer to a separate article on task types and quiz settings.
Adding practice tasks on Kwiga is simple. Here’s how:
Steps to add practice tasks:
-
Open the course.
-
Go to the Lessons tab.
-
Open the Lesson Builder.
-
Choose one of two methods for adding practice
There are two ways to add practice tasks on the Kwiga platform - Practice and List of practices.
Practice as part of the lesson materials
How it works:
Tasks are integrated directly into the lesson content and completed during the lesson.
How to add:
-
Press the button Practice.
-
Click on +Add practice
-
Select an existing practice or click +Quiz to create a new one.
-
Save the task and configure settings (e.g., tracking progress, time limits, or stop-lesson functionality).
Why use this method?
This approach works well for short tests or quick knowledge checks, seamlessly embedded into the lesson.
List of practices: tasks on a separate page
How it works:
Students access tasks on a separate page via a link in the lesson content.
How to add:
-
Click List of Practices in the lesson builder.
-
Create a new task or select an existing one.
-
Configure settings, such as making the task a checkpoint.
Why use this method?
Ideal for more complex or detailed exercises, this method separates theory from practice to prevent lesson overload.
You can combine both methods in a single lesson. For instance, include short tests within the lesson content and assign more complex exercises to separate pages.
How to check what the practice looks like in the lesson
Ensure that practice tasks appear as intended by using preview mode:
-
Open the lesson builder with the added tasks.
-
Click Course Preview at the top.
-
Check how tasks are displayed for students, including settings like time limits and progress tracking.
-
Make adjustments if needed, return to the builder, and preview again.
This will help ensure that everything works correctly and avoid mistakes before students begin the lesson.
How to check the completed practice
Verification of practical tasks on the Kwiga platform depends on the type of task and can be done via the Practice tab in the course or the Courses - Practice menu.
Automatic check
The system evaluates the answers automatically, and the results are recorded as Passed or Failed based on the student’s performance. Applies to tasks like multiple choice, matching, or fill-in-the-blanks.
Teacher / Assistant check
For tasks that require manual review (open answers in text, audio, video formats or attached files), as well as if mandatory review by the teacher is set, the actions will be as follows:
-
Open the Practice tab.
-
Select the specific task and review the student's answers.
-
Leave comments if needed and assign a status: Passed, Not Passed, or Needs Revision.
Survey and satisfaction scores
Tasks without correct answers, such as surveys or Net Promoter Score (NPS), are automatically marked as Passed. These results can be viewed in the Practice tab or exported to an Excel file for further analysis.
Checking practical tasks is available not only within the course but also in the top menu Courses - Assignments.
This report shows all practices completed by participants across all courses in your account. Filters can be used for easier navigation. By clicking the blue Check button under the task name, you can review the task and either Check or Change the practice status.
