How to add a video to an email

A detailed guide on how to add a video to an email.

In newsletters, welcome emails, or marketing emails, you can use videos to help draw additional attention to the newsletter itself and the products being sold.

Unfortunately, most major email providers, such as Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo, do not support embedded videos. This means that if a video is embedded directly into an email, your email will end up in spam and the recipient will most likely not see it. Additional measures may be applied to senders of such emails, and subsequent emails may also be sent to spam. Therefore, videos are not added directly to the email or uploaded as attachments, but instead an image imitating a splash screen and a link to the video posted on an external resource are used. This ensures the deliverability of the email and a high open rate.

To add a video to an email, you need to:

  1. Prepare a splash image, which can be with or without a player icon, allowing the user to understand that clicking on the splash image will open the video.

  2. Upload the video to an external resource, most often YouTube, where the user can watch it.

In the email editor, add an image element and add a link to the video itself.
