What is a public lesson, how to add a public lesson to the course, and what the lesson can be used for.
In this article:
What is a public lesson
A public lesson is essentially test access to your course. It introduces users to the course, providing information about you and your product.
For students: a trial lesson helps them decide whether to choose a particular school, evaluate courses, and determine if the study format is suitable for them.
For experts: it is an opportunity to present themselves, reach a wider audience, and attract potential participants.
Public lessons can be added to both paid and free courses. They are accessible to everyone, even without registration on the platform. However, it is important to note that lessons of this type can only be posted on the platform via YouTube or Vimeo.
How to add a public lesson to a course
-
Go to the upper menu Courses.
-
Choose a product Courses and navigate to the course where you want to create a public lesson.
-
Open the course settings in the Lessons tab.
-
You can either create a new lesson or click on the name of an existing one to open the lesson builder.
-
In the lesson builder, open the Settings tab.
-
Turn on the switch for the Public lesson option.
Once enabled, the lesson will become accessible to all platform users via a link. You can copy the link to the lesson directly from the same tab in the lesson settings.
Importantly: if a participant is not logged in, their progress statistics will not be tracked, as the platform cannot identify an unauthorized user. All activities in a public lesson will remain unlinked to a user account.
Furthermore, practice tasks and tests within public lessons will not be available to unauthorized participants. To complete a test or a practical task, the user must log in to the platform.
